• The need for the establishment of CDN

  

The Christian Doctor Network is basically a network of connection among Christian doctors both in the public and the private sector of health service in Hong Kong. 

Nearly every Christian doctors had passions hidden in their heart to be a good Christian doctor since the students years. We are involved in the medic fellowship when we are students, and God has put in many things in our lives then – relationships, memories, passions and values. Over the past years, we are all scattered into different hospitals and units, and we face the workplace challenges individually yet the challenges are so common for all of us.
Therefore wee see a need to establish or re-establish a network of connection among us, and this is called the Christian Doctor Network, CDN. We believe that CDN can serve as a way to build the bridge between Christian doctors, the network that it forms can fit into the current situation, and through this network we may re-discover the precious eternal things that the loving Lord has put in our hearts years ago – the first love.  

 

  

• The Biblical foundation of CDN

The whole passage of Ephesians 4:1 – 5:21, with the core verses of:

[弗 4:15-16]
惟用愛心說誠實話，凡事長進，連於元首基督，全身都靠他聯絡得合式，百節各按各職，照著各體的功用彼此相助，便叫身體漸漸增長，在愛中建立自己。


But speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, Christ; from whom all the body, being fitted and knit together through that which every joint supplies, according to the working in measure of each individual part, makes the body increase to the building up of itself in love.

Suggested areas of hospital-based small group discussions:

    • About CDN:
    1. What do you think about the vision and role of CDN?
    2. What do you think the CDN can do in order to facilitate its vision and role?
    3. What do you think about the key factors for the successful development of CDN, and how may we attain them?
    • About the workplace ( hospital/department/ward/clinic ):
    1. What is your experience as a Christian doctor in the workplace of HK?
    2. What is the difficulties/problems that you are facing as a Christian doctor in your spiritual, emotional, mental, physical and social aspects?
    3. How is your church life?
    • About a CDN core group ( as rep of Christian doctor ) of your hospital:
    1. What do you think may be the role and function of this core group?
    2. How may this core group run?
    3. Are you willing to be a member of this core group to facilitate workplace ministry in your hospital?
    • About cell group/prayer group in your unit:
      • Is it feasible?
      • What can be its meaning/value of existence?
      • How may it run? Who may be involved? What is the first step?

• The Vision of CDN

 

  1. A prayer network
      1. We see prayer networks of Christian doctors spreading over every units of the public and private healthcare system of Hong Kong.
  2. Christian doctors shining for Christ
      1. We see every Christian doctors as the light of the world, who can live victorious lives as examples and witnesses of Christ to influence people around. 
  3. Unity
      1. We see one church, one calling in the medical field – to be the body of Christ, serving the Lord with one heart on our common battle field – the wards, the clinics and the OT suites!  
  4. An army for Christ
      1. We see troops and teams of Christian doctors, well equipped and trained in spirit, mind and skills, ready to serve the world in times of disasters, wars and plaques.

• The Mission of CDN
  1. To establish network linkage for Christian doctors, in terms of 
      1. email list and update messages of different hospitals
      2. website
      3. phone-prayers
  2. To establish rEGULAR workplace prayer groups, for 
      1. personal needs
      2. workplace needs
      3. biblical values into daily routine and workplace cultures
      4. workplace gospel ministries
  3. To hold regular prayer meetings, in terms of 
      1. Yearly ministry conference – this year 19th August!, for
          1. vision impartation
          2. revival ignition
          3. strategies formation
      2. Monthly overall prayer meetings
  4. To hold training seminars, to
      1. equip our knowledge and skills to serve in disasters and places of poverty
discuss specific topics which commonly faced by Christian doctors, e.g. finance management, workplace culture, etc
